ICSC recommends retirement at 65
We are pleased to inform you that the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC), which sets our terms and conditions, has recommended that as of 1 January 2016 you will be able to choose whether to retire at 60/62 of whether to stay on until 65.
This recommendation will
need to be approved by the General Assembly.
The ICSC's recommendation came after an intense and prolonged debate at which staff representatives and management presented their positions. Staff representatives favoured giving you the right to choose.
With the matter now in the hands of the General Assembly, we will be contacting delegations to put our position forward once again.
While nothing is agreed until the final decision of the General Assembly, this is a hugely important milestone.
This bulletin explains things in more detail.
